JEFFERSON CITY, MO - Thursday, the Concerned Women For America (CWFA) announced it had endorsed Dave Spence for Governor of Missouri. CWFA is the largest women’s public policy organization in the nation. CWFA represents nearly a half million members from all walks of life who share a vision to restore family values to its traditional purpose.

“I’m truly honored to receive the endorsement of the Concerned Women For America,” said Spence. “The CWFA shares the views of so many Missouri women who are raising families, trying to get our economy going, while remaining active in their communities. Just like the CWFA, I’m proudly pro-life and believe in the same religious liberty the organization ardently supports. Jay Nixon is a pro-choice, liberal, career politician who vetoed Missouri’s religious liberty bill this year. The difference between Jay Nixon and I could not be more distinct.”

The Concerned Women for America endorsement is another in a broad coalition supporting the Spence Campaign this election. In addition to the CWFA, the Missouri Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber PAC, Missouri Right to Life, Missouri Farm Bureau’s Farm PAC, Missouri Corrections Officers Association, the Eagle Forum, and the Missouri Trucking Association have endorsed Dave Spence’s campaign for Missouri Governor.

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Yesterday the Missouri Trucking Association (MoTA) announced it had endorsed Dave Spence for governor. MoTA represents the interests of the trucking industry and motor carriers in Missouri. MoTA’s mission includes promoting the interests of 725 companies that operate trucks, including both for-hire and private carriers, and allied members that provide products and services to the motor carriers industry. To see the endorsement letter, click here.

“Dave Spence is a businessman, like us, who understands the risks associated with running a business in Missouri.” said Tom Kolb, Chair of the Missouri Trucking Association. “The foundation of Dave Spence’s campaign is a pro-business & pro-growth platform that we have been pushing for in the legislature for years.”

“I’m thrilled to receive the endorsement of the Missouri Trucking Association,” said Spence. “Career politician Jay Nixon has failed Missouri businesses and Missouri citizens by ignoring their needs and only focusing on advancing his political career. He’s a shill for the special interests that have stifled job-creation and growth in our state. The groups that work with Jay Nixon closest are turning to my campaign because they can’t afford another four years of his failed policies. I look forward to working with MoTA to help jumpstart our Missouri trucking industry and this stagnant economy.”

The MoTA endorsement comes on the heels of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber PAC, Missouri Farm Bureau’s Farm PAC, Missouri Corrections Officers Association, Missouri Right to Life and the Eagle Forum endorsements of Dave Spence’s campaign for governor.

Dear Missouri Trucking Association Member,

As a fellow trucker and businessman, I’m sure you will agree that the last four years have been the most challenging business environment many of us have ever seen. For many, it seems as though government is another hurdle to be overcome. Don’t you wish we had more leaders in government who understood the value of signing the front of a check, with their own money on the line?

That’s why I am pleased to report that the Executive Committee of the Missouri Trucking Association has officially announced its support of Dave Spence in his campaign for Governor.

As a recipient of this email, you are probably wondering “why are they announcing this so late? The Election is Tuesday!” And you would be correct.

The honest answer is this. Dave Spence has a chance to win. Very few gave him a shot even two weeks ago. As we looked around our own industry, I think we all knew we weren’t overly excited about the prospect of a second term for a pro-trial attorney, anti-business Governor, but we were resigned to quietly vote for Dave Spence.

The second part of the answer is that Dave Spence is a businessman, like us, who understands the risks associated with running a business in Missouri. The foundation of Dave Spence’s campaign is a pro-business & pro-growth platform that we have been pushing for in the legislature for years. Tort reform, workers comp reform and Right to Work legislation are all part of the Dave Spence campaign for Governor.

As a committee of interested observers of and participants in the election process, I know that we don’t want to think “what if” for the next four years. Please join us in Voting for Dave Spence and encourage all your employees, friends, and family to vote for Dave Spence!

Thank you,

Tom Kolb, Chair
Executive Committee
Missouri Trucking Association

Dear Friends:

On November 6th, we will be voting for a governor for the great state of Missouri. I have personally looked at both candidates, and I am proudly supporting Mr. Dave Spence. I have met Dave personally several times, and I feel he will make an outstanding governor. Mr. Spence understands the sacrifices of the men and women who have defended our nation. He has asked what he can do as governor to help repay us for our service. I have merely mentioned to him that we just want our voices heard. He has promised he will listen to us veterans, and they will have a seat at his table.

Mr. Spence has created jobs in the private sector and has built a broad coalition of good, honest Missourians supporting him in this campaign. He fully realizes that when the men and women who have so bravely served our country come home, the most important thing they will need is a job. I don’t feel our current path provides those servicemen and servicewomen the opportunities a Spence administration would provide. I feel Dave is the best candidate to help get Missouri’s current and future veterans working again.

As a former legislator, test pilot and Marine pilot, I feel we can ask no more of a man who is asking us for his vote. I respectfully request that each of you support Mr. Spence on November 6th.

Respectfully Submitted,

SAINT LOUIS, MO – Republican Leadership in the Missouri House of Representatives and key Republicans in the State Senate have written an open letter to voters directly refuting Governor Jay Nixon’s misleading campaign ads. Specifically, the legislators debunk Nixon’s claims that he is “Independent” and works with Republicans. Signers of the letter include Republican Speaker of the House Tim Jones and Republican Senate Majority Floor Leader Tom Dempsey.

“For months, Jay Nixon has been raking in campaign cash from liberal trial lawyers and union bosses and then spending that money on misleading advertising and false attacks,” said Jared Craighead, Spence Campaign Manager. “These Republicans know better than anyone that Jay Nixon worked against them, not with them, on major issues like fending off Obamacare and balancing the budget.”

The open letter to voters can be viewed here. The letter will also be submitted to newspaper opinion pages across the state.

Republicans signing the letter include: Speaker of the House Tim Jones, Senate Majority Floor Leader Tom Dempsey, Rep. Sue Allen, Rep. Scott Dieckhaus, Rep. Todd Richardson, Rep. Jeanie Riddle, Rep. Jason Smith, Senator Dan Brown, Senator Mike Kehoe, Senator Will Kraus, Senator John Lamping, Senator Brian Munzlinger, Senator Chuck Purgason, Senator Scott Rupp, Senator Eric Schmitt, and Senator Bill Stouffer.

SAINT LOUIS, MO – After weeks of lying to the media about a willingness to engage in substantive discussions with his opponent about important issues facing Missouri, Jay Nixon came clean yesterday and admitted that he would not do any more debates. Jay Nixon told KMOX’s Kevin Killeen yesterday that, “he had no plans for more debates.”

As is so often the case with Jay Nixon, his story on debates has changed over the last several weeks. Not wanting to be honest early, his campaign initially provided the following comments on debates.

Nixon’s campaign manager, Oren Shur, said in an email this morning: “Gov. Nixon values debates, and in the coming days, we’ll be in touch with the different organizations that have invited us and make a determination on the best course forward

“We look forward to continuing to discuss the issues on that front as the weeks and months go by,” Nixon said, before catching himself: “I guess the month.” “We will work with the organizations that are offering up those opportunities and work to talk to them about what those opportunities might be,” he added, when pressed.

“Jay Nixon will not debate me because he is unable to defend his failed record that includes: 79,000 fewer jobs since he took office, 107,000 fewer Missourians in the workforce since he took office, personal income at the lowest levels since 1994, Missouri ranking 50th in job creation, slashing hundreds of millions from education and hanging a for sale sign on the governor’s office,” said Dave Spence. “Missourians are not better off than when Jay Nixon took office and they are tired of him lying about his record. The fact that he couldn’t be honest about his plans for debates makes clear that he will say or do anything to try to get reelected,” Spence continued.

On September 27 the Spence Campaign agreed to five debates with Jay Nixon. To view the one debate Nixon participated in click here.
