Jay Nixon Embarrassed By Another Fee Office Scandal
May 31, 2012ST. LOUIS, MO – St. Louis radio station KTRS is reporting that Governor Jay Nixon’s Department of Revenue has terminated its award of the Maplewood fee office to a St. Louis County Councilwoman. This action comes in response to intense media scrutiny and criticism, led by KTRS’ McGraw Milhaven. Milhaven discovered that the councilwoman recently filed for bankruptcy but received high marks for financial management in the bid evaluation.
“Jay Nixon’s backtrack on the most recent fee office award can be summed up in one word: guilt. Once again, he was caught handing out political favors instead of doing the right thing, and now he is trying to cover it up by blaming the person he awarded the office to,” said Jared Craighead, campaign manager for the Spence for Governor campaign. “No matter how hard Jay Nixon tries, this scandal isn’t going away. The public deserves to know the truth. Jay Nixon is handing out state contracts like political candy and this recent episode is just another in a growing list of corrupt behavior,” Craighead continued.
